Warren Keating is a painter who has based his popular overhead series on images from a digital video camera. The result brings together the perspective of the camera with the nuance control of light and color that can only happen with brush on canvas. Born in New Orleans in 1965, his work now reflects the culmination of 30 years of painting both the figure and the landscape. He has had numerous solo shows of his paintings in the U.S. and Mexico, has sold hundreds of paintings through the internet to collectors around the world. He has been included in juried shows at the University of Southern Mississippi, Otis College, Los Angeles, Ventura College, Orange County Center For Contemporary Art, Long Beach Arts, TAG Santa Monica and Gallery 825 in Los Angeles. His latest series, Overview, was selected as an LA Times Calendar pick, won Second Award at a juried exhibit at Long Beach Arts. An interview with Keating about this series was featured on both CNN and KTLA in Los Angeles. He work has been featured in the LA Times, Daily News and The Huffington Post. Keating recently won a place in the California Open at TAG Gallery, had a solo show at Los Angeles Art Association’s Gallery 825 and was a Los Angeles regional finalist in the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. He is currently represented by ViVO Contemporary in Santa Fe.
